Our Story

It all started when Laura passed out in the shower. She was a college freshman at Brigham Young University and she had just enough sense in her head to realize that fainting=trip to the emergency room. She got dressed, called her boyfriend, and told him to get her a ride to the hospital.
The boyfriend knocked on doors until someone with a car agreed to drive them. That someone was Shane. They got spectacularly lost (not Shane's fault) while Laura moaned in the backseat. Laura went to the E.R. where the doctors shook their heads and said "Gee, I don't know why you fainted. Probably stress or something you ate." The whole debacle was extremely embarrassing to Laura. She made Shane some thank-you cookies (which his roommates ate) and then she successfully avoided him for two years.
By chance they moved into the same apartment complex. They quickly hit it off and spent as much time together as possible. Shane would show up to parties and sit right next to Laura...even when she was on a date with another guy.
Soon they starting meeting each other's families, singing to one another in the car, and walking in parks until the sprinklers went off. On these walks they'd talk about their families and the kind of families they wanted to have. Their conversation gradually changed from "one day when I have kids" to "one day when we have kids."
They married soon after that. The proposal, the wedding, and the reception all went by in a blur. They both graduated in Psychology and then they moved to Northern Virginia so that Shane could get his master's in Industrial Organizational Psychology (business consulting.)
In 2010 they decided that they were ready to have children. They tried fertility treatments but nothing worked. In 2013 they turned to adoption. Please share the link to this story to help them connect with the birth parents of their future child.
